ABOUT US

SJ Consulting, Inc. was formed by Sharon Jacobson in 2011 to provide consulting services for non-profit distribution companies - particularly food banks, food pantries and other inventory intensive charities. She found that there were few consulting organizations able to help the food banks adapt in times of major change.  The assessment was accurate - since our launch, we have worked with more more than 120 non-profit distribution organizations on a multitude of projects. We value the opportunities we have had to work with food bank clients as they have adapted to the massive industry changes.

 

We've learned from these engagements that the most successful results come from addressing both an organization's technology and human systems. Our passion is helping organizations obtain the results they desire from technology initiatives.  This occurs from an alignment of people, process and technology.

Sharon Jacobson is based in Oregon. She has worked with Food Banks and inventory based non-profits since 2000, shortly after receiving a Masters Degree in Management of Science and Technology. She has designed and managed all steps of a project life cycle - from building the organizational vision to post project assessments. 

Sharon works extensively with the Feeding America National Organization supporting their ERP initiatives, and has worked with many, many food banks and pantries.  She brings a unique knowledge of both operational realities and software capabilities to help clients change how they work. 

Derek Snow, CMA

Derek Snow is based in Oregon, and is a Certified Management Accountant, who has held finance and technology roles in several companies. He has been consulting with non-profits since 2013.

 

His areas of specialty include programmatic reporting, kitting and costing, and Jet Report design.  He has worked in distribution warehouses in the past and has led multiple ERP deployments from the client side. With SJ Consulting, he has participated in over 70 food banking projects.

Susan Tisdale is based in Ohio. She joined the SJ Consulting team in 2021, after working more than 20 years in technology at a Feeding America member food bank. She brings extensive experience in real world technology adoption at food banks.  She has already worked on many operations and agency focused projects. She also enjoys helping food banks create just the right Jet Report to help make decisions.

Andy Schuricht is based in Arizona.  He is the founder of Valor CSR, a corporate social responsibility consulting firm. Learn more at ValorCSR.com.

 

From 2009 to 2015, Andy Schuricht served as the Chief Financial Officer of Three Square, the Feeding America food bank serving Southern Nevada. As CFO, he was responsible for all aspects of strategy, finance, information technology and human resources. Three Square was the fastest growing food bank in the Feeding America network five years running.

 

Andy is also the founding curator for the Las Vegas hub of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers program. In addition, he is the Board Chair for the Alliance for Nevada Nonprofits, the state association of nonprofits in Nevada, and hosts the podcast Nonprofit Everything with Stacey Wedding.

Suzanne Gutierrez is based in Oregon. She is an experienced business consultant, and untangler of messes. She is an ultimate utility player, having worked across varied industries — financial services, healthcare, retail, recruiting — across business disciplines such as information technology, human resources, production — and across various continents. She's tenacious and persistent, with a knack for spotting inconsistencies. What you'll get from her: quality work, meticulous organization, and an obsession with accuracy. What she does: Project Management, Process Documentation and Mapping. Suzanne has been involved in food banking projects since 2020, and has partnered with SJ Consulting since 2018. 

She has volunteered to feed the hungry and the homeless at her local community kitchen and as a baby cuddler in the NICU.
